A weekend in Belfast

Last weekend I made my first trip to Northern Ireland with one of my best friends from University who came over to Northumbria from Belfast. I've actually never been to anywhere else in the UK that's not England, which is crazy! So next on my list is Scotland as I'd love to visit Edinburgh.

We spent the weekend meeting Mel's family, watching a fashion show, visiting the Christmas market and above all, eating nice food (of course). The fashion show was hosted by a boutique called Rio Brazil which is exclusive to Belfast but you can visit the website here. I've been after a knitted hat with a big pom pom for ages now and spotted one during the show which I purchased after and have worn every day since!

Included in the ticket was a three course meal and cocktails at a bar named Sweet Afton and the food amazing. Each course was served as a platter with a selection of mini choices on a slate sharing board. For starter we had prawn and chorizo skewers, goats cheese bites with beetroot, crab meat on lamb's lettuce and pate on toast. Mains were mini fish and chips, mini salmon and cream cheese bagels, a mini club sandwich and a mini cheese burger. Finally, for dessert was a selection of pastries from a local patisserie (which we couldn't finish as we were too full - a first for me).

The Christmas market was really busy as we went on a Saturday but it was still so pretty - full of little stalls and loads of Christmas lights. Later on we headed out in town to a club called Alibi and also managed to squeeze in breakfast on Sunday so I'm impressed with how much we managed to fit into our short trip. I hope you enjoy the few pictures I took!

This weekend I'm going to London (in fact I am on the train right now) and heading to Winter Wonderland for the first time which is exciting! What have you been up to?
